Valuable and insightful textbook on education

I just finished this textbook for a semester in graduate school, and found it very enlightening. I used to teach secondary school in Singapore for about eight years before moving to the United States and after several years as a stay-at-home mom decided that I would love to return to teaching [after grad school].
I love the way this book is organized -there's a lot of useful information not only within the text, but also in the margins, for example the inclusion of the INTASC standards, the Reflect & Write feature which allows readers to ponder on pertinent educational issues, the "In the Classroom" feature which describes real-life experiences of actual teachers in different parts of the country, and many more.
The text is easy to read, and never reads like a dense academic text. Everything is clearly explained and makes the issues described easy to comprehend and follow. The chapters covered are:

Experience and Ingenuity

One of the best guides for someone breaking into teaching currently on the market. I have had the distinct honor of working with Dr. Morrison and these experiences have done nothing but enlighten me and teach me things I might not otherwise have learned. He brings this ability to communicate both gracefully and pactfully to his text, mixing it with his natural love of children and his honest desire to help people learn how to do that single most important of jobs - teach.
I recommend this book to anyone even vaguely considering education as a career, and to those who have experience in the profession. It will reveal many things you will not find anywhere else but experience and it will shed new light on old subjects for those with time infront of students.

Good education textbook!!

I bought this textbook for one of my educational foundation classes. Good textbook, has some really good information and insight into the classroom. Provides a good foundation for learning more about government involvement in education, and the history of education. I only wish it had been cheaper. While Amazon was the cheapest, I still think this textbook was way overpriced. Most of the information in the book could be found on the internet for free. So like all other textbooks the price was way TOO much.
