Good material, need more editing.

This will be my third exam, so I have some sense of the material. I thought the questions seemed appropriate. However, this book needs a better editor. Some of it has the amatuerish feel of self-publishing.
Why in the world would you put a photo of a strip mall on the cover of an architectural exam book?
UPDATE: After completing half of the 85 questions in this book, I took a break and tried NCARB's practice questions (the FREE ones). I was very surprised how similar many of the questions were, often just slightly rephrasing the questions. It's almost like I bought a book with only 45 new questions and 40 reprinted questions.

Good prep book

I have purchased the entire series of this book for the exams. I am using them in conjunction with the Kaplan study material. I found all of the extra information unnecessary and really only use the question and answer section for preparation. This series does a good job with the practice questions focusing on a more code based approach which I have found the Kaplan books lack. Together they seem to give a good balanced approach to studying and have successfully gotten me through the first three exams.

1st Time, Passed the Test!

I wanted to get my test results before evaluating this resource. I passed the PPP exam on my first attempt! I must say that Mr. Gang Chen's book was very helpful in this. I did not like a lot of the 1st chapter, since it deals with things we (testing candidates) already know and is not relevant to the test, like what the IDP process is, how to qualify for the A.R.E.,etc. But towards the end of the 1st chapter (under Section D), Mr. Chen gives good advice on sequencing, hours of study time, and tips.
Chapter 2 is meat and potatoes! The resources are right on the money, and were very valuable. His guidance on the graphic vignette was also valuable, as you could see how to approach the graphic problem once the software has been mastered, and his warnings of common NCARB "traps".
But by far, the most valuable asset in this book is Chapter 3 -the mock test AND the software upload. No doubt about the mock test: It is HARD! It is GREAT PREPARATION! His guidance to take it several times until you can answer all the questions is an important strategy, because as you find you miss a question, you are more apt to look it up, increasing your knowledge and understanding. He does give the answers in Chapter 4, but some, I still dug a little deeper to understand the answer. The software is a necessity, because the NCARB example is only one problem, and they said it is primarily there for practicing the Software, not working out the problem. So Mr. Chen gives another problem to work on.
Overall, this is a great resource, and I highly recommend it! Thanks, Mr. Chen!
